  5. Hi,
We are The Moot a 2 female Pop/Reggae/Dance band based in Huddersfield UK.
Below I have included or biog and links to our websites, Where you can listen to some of our tracks, see pics read full reviews, see gig history ect.For your consideration.
The Moot would love to play at the Midi Festival 2008. We would need to cover the cost of our travel and accomodation for the duration of the trip.

    About The Moot:
” As an indication of a band well worth keeping an eye out for, LET ME KNOW is a demo that announces The Moot as a duo with the songs, style and attitude to believe in. ” UK Music Search Feb07

“A Good producer could easily turn this into the sounds of the summer” Richard Garnett, Leeds Music Scene

“their songs are immediately recognisable and catchy enough to kick around in your headspace long after the track’s finished playing” Andrew Burden, Glasswerk

The Moot are a two piece female band from the UK who play an original blend of reggae, funk/ Pop and jamming. The line up is Clare (electric guitar and vocals) and Eryl (Drums & backing Vocals) The band have a unique live sound that has often been compared to that of a full band. They like to keep things simple and have a clean and uncluttered sound. They are all about the music and having fun. Their aim is to go out and play their music, have lots of fun doing it and make people happy.
The band formed initially playing acoustic music in Galloway, Scotland in 2004. After 12 months the band played their first gig with electric guitar and drums at the Bladnoch Distillery in Scotland August 2005, This was a success and they moved back down to Huddersfield to focus on their music.
Since arriving in September 2005 The Moot have played over 100 gigs around the North of England including the Wimfest at the Barfly in Liverpool, Thimbleberry Music Festival in County Durham, the Holmfirth Picturedrome and the Rock Club in Covent Garden, London.
In September 2006 they played to a packed tent at the Thimbleberry Music Festival in County Durham.

“Snuggle Up” was played on the BBC Raw Talent Show the same weekend where they were described as ” A Very,Very good band” by Alan Raw.

The Moot supported signed French band La Cedille in October 2006 as part of the Black History week in Huddersfield.

The Band were invited to play two songs Snuggle Up and Seagulls in the acoustic lounge on the BBC Raw Talent show at the end of November 2006. Snuggle up was entered into the Acoustic End of Year Polls as a result.

They also played on the temporary Ice Rink in Huddersfield town centre on a cold winters day in December. 2006 was a busy year for The Moot ladies hosting 20 freestyle Jam Sessions, 29 Band Nights and playing 60 Moot gigs.

In January 2007 “Let Me Know” was played on the BBC Raw Talent show, Many other tracks aired to the world Thanks to the various wonderful podcasters.

In February the moot were contacted by and A&R guy from Parlophone/Emi and we asked to send some of their material for consideration. In June The Moot played their first gig in London at the Rock Garden, gardening Club in Covent Garden, the gig was part of a battle of the bands competition, The Moot won their heat, and got through to the Semi-Final, following the Semi-Final win the band returned a week later to take part in the final of the competition. They were delighted to come 3rd in the competition and won 365 Bottles of Freedom beer.
The Moot were invited back to Thimbleberry in September 2007 where they played on the main stage to their biggest audience yet of 3000 people and will hopefully be returning next year.

So far The Moot have written 95 songs and play about 45 of them at gigs, many of them are available for free download or CD on the websites below! Around 12 cover songs are also woven into the live set, some of them being re-worked into a reggae style.

I look forward to hearing from you
    (The Moot)
